Brooder floor space is always tight, and a drinker taking up a quarter of it is a drinker that gets kicked over. This is the small one: about 24 cm tall on a footprint of roughly 19 by 19 cm, which the manufacturer lists as 9.46 inches high by 7.48 inches square. It fits where the larger units simply do not. Capacity is 3.8 L (1 gallon). For a handful of birds that is a day or two of water, which is about right. A bigger reservoir in a small pen only means water sitting long enough that you dump it anyway. It is moulded from 100 percent recycled low-density polyethylene, soft enough to survive being knocked about in the cold. The flat top means you fill it standing upright, so there is no wrestling it over and no spill into the bedding. Set it on a block or a piece of board rather than straight onto shavings. Litter kicked into water is the reason most drinkers need cleaning twice a day instead of once.
