Details
The old jar-and-base drinker has to be inverted to fill, which means half of it ends up on your boots and the rest of it on the litter. A flat-top drinker fills the right way up. That is most of the argument for it, and it is an argument that holds up every single morning for as long as you own the thing. This is the middle size in the range at 6.4 L (1.7 gallons). More than a day of water for a small flock, still light enough to carry full in one hand without slopping it down the aisle. The flat top is also a surface, in the sense that nothing rolls off it. Rinse the trough regularly, because the ring that builds up in poultry water is what eventually stops any drinker working properly. The line is moulded from recycled low-density polyethylene, a flexible plastic rather than a rigid one. It will take a knock from a wing or a boot in cold weather rather than splitting.
