Details
Birds waste feed by scratching it out of a feeder and walking it into the litter. Lifting the feeder a few inches off the floor and covering the top deals with most of that. They can reach in to eat but cannot get a foot in to throw it around, and nothing settles on the lid overnight. It holds 11 lb of feed, roughly 5 kg. The legs extend to stand the feeder either 2 or 3 inches (5 or 7.5 cm) off the ground, which is the adjustment that matters as chicks grow into birds, and they fold flat when it is time to move or store it. There is a metal handle on top as well if you would rather hang it than stand it. Fill it from the top and let it feed down as the birds work at it; the point of a covered feeder is that you are not topping up an open tray every few hours. Empty and dry it thoroughly before storing at the end of a batch, because feed left sitting in a plastic feeder through a damp month is the usual reason one gets thrown out.
