Details
Cardboard cartons go soft. Anyone selling eggs at the gate, or simply trying to stay a week ahead of the hens, ends up with a stack of damp stained cartons that will not stack straight and cannot be cleaned. A moulded tray washes, dries and goes back into service the same afternoon. This is the 12-egg size, about 28 cm long by 10 cm wide by 7 cm high (11 by 4 by 2.75 inches), moulded from recycled low-density polyethylene and listed by the maker as washable. The clear green body lets you see how full it is without lifting the lid. Wash it the way you would any other food container, warm water and detergent, then air dry it. If you are moving eggs through in batches, keeping several trays going lets you track what came in on which day without writing on anything or trusting your memory.
