Most of these never see a feed bin. A big open square scoop is what people reach for to shift shavings, spread sand on an icy step, lift gravel out of a pail or clear spilled grain off a shop floor, jobs where a shovel is too much tool and a hand is not enough. The measurements are about 33 cm wide by 33 cm long and 15 cm deep (13 by 13 by 6 inches). The material is 100% recycled low-density polyethylene, which is why it survives that treatment: it flexes on impact instead of chipping, and it will not spark, rust or scar a rubber mat. Purple has an obvious place in a colour system, and setting one up is worth the trouble as soon as more than one person is doing chores. Give the purple one a single job, make sure everyone knows what that job is, and you avoid the usual situation where the same scoop has been in three products before lunch.
