Details
One scoop per bin is a rule that pays for itself. The moment a single scoop starts travelling between the oats, the mineral and the chick starter, you get cross-contamination you cannot see and a scoop that is never where you left it. Colour is the cheapest way to enforce the rule, because a label taped to a plastic scoop will not survive a winter. Purple is a good one to assign to something you want kept separate. The open round bowl means there is nothing to trap old feed in a corner, and the shape sits down into a partly full bin so you are not scraping around trying to fill it. Moulded plastic, so it will not rust, take on a smell or swell up if it sits in a damp bin. Give it a knock against the bin wall when you are done, hang it or hook it over the rim, and it stays with the feed it belongs to.
