Tubs get left where the work ended. In a dark barn, or in a yard with snow on the ground, a dark tub is invisible until a tractor tire finds it. Lime green is the practical answer to that. The tub takes 66 L (70 quarts) and measures about 53 cm (21 in) across by 41 cm (16 in) deep, with rope handles through moulded side lugs. The material is a recycled low-density polyethylene, soft enough to flex under a knee rather than crack. Bright colours also make a rotation system readable from across the yard. If lime is the tub that only ever carries clean feed, nobody has to walk over and look inside to know whether it is the right one. Wash it out at the end of a job rather than the start of the next one. Dried feed and bedding come off a smooth poly wall with a hose in seconds, and take a scrub brush and warm water after a week.
