Cleaning a stall with a bucket that is too small means three trips to the pile instead of one. This one holds 66 L (70 quarts, or 17.5 US gallons), which is about as much soiled bedding as most people care to drag in a single go. It measures roughly 53 cm (21 in) across the top and 41 cm (16 in) deep, moulded from recycled low-density polyethylene with rope handles set into the sides. The rope matters more than it sounds like it should. It lies flat against the wall when the tub is hanging on a nail, and it lets two people take an end each when the load is heavy and wet. Blue is the colour most people end up reserving for water and clean work. Whatever you decide it means on your place, deciding is the useful part, because a tub that has hauled manure all morning should not be the one you carry feed in that afternoon. Poly this soft will flex rather than crack in cold weather, but it does not love being left full and frozen. Tip it after use and store it upside down or on a hook and it will outlast several stiffer tubs.
