Details
Feeding one animal out of a pan on the ground means half of it gets walked through and the other half gets bedded over. A hook-over feeder solves that by hanging on the top rail or a gate panel. The ration sits at head height and the pan comes off in one motion when you are done with it. This is the six-quart size, roughly 5.7 L, moulded in recycled low-density polyethylene with the hook formed as part of the body rather than bolted on. That matters, because a bolted hook is the first thing to fail on a feeder like this. There is nothing here to work loose. Blue reads clearly from across a pen, which is useful if you run a colour system: one colour for the mare, another for the pony that gets a different ration. Knock the pan against a post to clear it, rinse it when feed starts caking in the bottom, and hang it somewhere it can drain.
