Small feeds are awkward. A full-size fence feeder is more pail than anyone needs for a scoop of supplement, and a loose pan on the ground gets stepped in, tipped, and dragged into the corner where it fills with bedding. This one holds about 5.7 L (6 quarts) and hooks over a rail, so the feed stays at head height and stays where you put it. It drops over a top rail, a panel or a gate and sits back against the fence, out of the way of a shoulder. Because it lifts straight off again, you can carry it to the animal, hang it, feed, and take it away once the feed is gone. That is how you stop a feeder becoming a rain trap between meals. Black is the one that disappears. If you would rather the feeder not be the first thing you see down a run of fence, or you simply want a colour that does not fade to a chalky version of itself after three summers, this is the one to reach for. It also hides the residue of sweet feed better than the light colours do between washes.
