Chore time in February is not when you want to be threading a cold collar onto a cold bottle. The snap cap pushes on and pulls off with one hand, and that is the whole argument for this version over the screw-neck. It comes apart for washing in seconds and goes back together the same way. Capacity is two quarts, about 1.9 L, matched to a single feed for a young calf. The bottle is a moulded plastic body with an integral handle, and the cap and teat lift off together as one assembly. The trade-off is worth knowing before you buy. A snap cap is faster, but a determined animal can shift it, so keep a hand on the cap while feeding rather than letting the bottle hang off the teat. Wash the teat inside and out and let it air dry properly; milk left in rubber in a warm barn is what finishes teats early.
