Purple is the odd one out on most shelves, and that is exactly why it works as a marker. If you run several liquid products — feed oil, molasses, supplement, disinfectant — assigning each a colour is faster and more reliable than labels, which peel and get covered in whatever they're labelling. The scoop is about ten inches across and five deep with steep sides, so a single dip lifts a real measure and the pour is controlled rather than a wave over the edge. The hook lets it live inside the pail, hanging on the rim, where it drains back into the product and doesn't get lost. It's a plastic moulding, so salts, mineral supplements and disinfectants won't corrode it the way they eat a metal dipper, and there's no seam to trap product. Clean it before whatever you dipped dries on it. That is the whole maintenance routine. A scoop that lives clean in the pail is a scoop you'll still be using in five years, and it beats the cut-off jug it replaced by a long way.
