Anyone who feeds oil or liquid supplement by hand knows the problem: nothing is a good tool for it. A cup is too shallow, a jug is awkward, and whatever you use ends up sticky and set down where it shouldn't be. A purpose-made liquid scoop with a hook solves it — dip, pour, hang it back on the rim to drain. At about ten inches wide and five deep it takes a proper measure, and the deep sides mean you're not skimming the surface and slopping half of it on the way out. Green makes a natural code for feed-side liquids: molasses, oil, liquid vitamins, anything that goes into the ration. Keep a different colour for barn chemicals and you never have to wonder what was in it last. Being moulded plastic there's nothing to rust or corrode, which matters with salt-heavy supplements and disinfectants. Warm water and a bit of soap gets molasses off; oils come off easier if you don't let them sit. Hang it in the pail with the lid on and it stays clean between uses.
