Details
Fifty-four gallons is the largest round tub in the line, and it changes your day. A pen of cattle or a group of horses can go through a shift without you topping it up, and in summer heat that's the difference between water available and water gone. The trade-off is honest: full, it is not moving. Site it where you want it before you fill it, on level ground, ideally where the overflow drains away instead of turning into a mud hole or an ice rink. At twenty-one inches deep it takes a while to empty for cleaning, so most people siphon it or tip it with help. It's moulded in one piece with no seams and no metal, so nothing rusts through and nothing weeps at a joint. Poly flexes with the freeze-thaw cycle instead of splitting, which is why these outlast steel tanks on a lot of yards. If you're running a de-icer, use one rated for plastic tanks and follow the depth and clearance the maker specifies.
