Pink is a practical choice more often than people expect. Farm tools disappear — into neighbours' trucks, into the wrong shed, into the back of a 4-H trailer. A shovel nobody else has is a shovel that comes home. It's also the sensible pick for kids doing chores. A plastic blade weighs a fraction of what steel does, so a ten-year-old can actually move a pail of grain or a load of shavings without dragging the shovel behind them. Same reason it's easier on anyone who's already nursing a sore shoulder. It works on grain, pellets, chop, mineral, bedding and snow, and it won't rust hanging in a damp feed room or spark in a dusty granary.
