Tuff Stuff galvanized poultry drinker - 3qts
A three-quart galvanized drinker — the in-between size for growing birds that have outgrown a chick fount.
Details
Three quarts fills the gap between a brooder drinker and a full-size flock waterer. It's the one you move to when the chicks have feathered out and are drinking a two-quart dry by mid-afternoon, but you're still cleaning it daily and don't want to be lugging a big one around. The advantage of steel at any size is the same: it doesn't crack when it freezes and gets knocked over, it doesn't soften in the sun, and you can put boiling water and a stiff brush through it when you're disinfecting between batches without wrecking the surface. It's also heavy enough that half-grown birds can't push it around the pen. It makes a useful second drinker even in a flock that's on something bigger. Having a spare means one can be washed and drying while the other is in service, and in cold weather you can rotate two so one is always thawed. Keep it up off the bedding on a block; the bedding stays dry and the water stays cleaner.
