Small on purpose. In a brooder you want to be dumping and refilling water every single day, and a two-quart drinker makes that a ten-second job rather than a chore you skip. Chicks foul water fast; capacity is not the thing you're optimising for. Galvanized steel gives you a couple of advantages over the plastic equivalent at this size. It's heavy enough not to get shoved around by a scrum of chicks the way a light plastic one does, it takes scalding water and a scrub brush without complaint when you're sanitising between batches, and it lasts — a metal chick drinker will still be in service ten batches from now, which plastic generally won't. Set it up on a shallow block or a bit of board so the lip sits at chick back height. That keeps shavings out of the water and stops the litter underneath turning into a wet mat. Check it twice a day early on; a brooder full of chicks empties two quarts quicker than you'd expect in warm weather.
