Tuff Stuff Galvanized Open Top Feeder 30lbs
The thirty-pound galvanized open-top feeder — more capacity between fills for a bigger flock or a weekend away.
Details
Capacity is the whole argument here. Thirty pounds is roughly double the smaller open-top feeder, which for most backyard flocks is the difference between filling every second day and filling once a week. If you're away for a couple of nights, or you run meat birds that eat hard, this is the size to be looking at. It's the same open-top design — feed goes in over the top from a scoop or a pail with no lid to wrestle, and one look tells you where the level is. Galvanized steel handles a cold barn without cracking, shrugs off birds standing on it, and gives mice nothing to chew. It hangs on a chain so you can raise it as the birds grow. Bear in mind a big open feeder full of grain is an invitation to sparrows and mice if it's not in a closed coop. Hang it high enough that birds can't roost on the rim, and keep the fill down in damp weather so the bottom of the load doesn't cake.
