Tuff Stuff Galvanized Open Top Feeder 15lbs
A galvanized open-top hanging feeder holding about fifteen pounds of feed, with height that adjusts as the birds grow.
Details
An open-top feeder is the simple one — you tip the pail in from above and you can see at a glance how much feed is left, with no lid to lift while your other hand is full. Fifteen pounds is a sensible fill for a small flock: a couple of days of feed rather than a week, so it doesn't sit and go stale or draw mice. Galvanized steel is the reason to buy it rather than a plastic feeder. Steel doesn't go brittle in a cold coop, birds can't peck a hole in it, and rodents can't chew into it — which is what eventually happens to plastic feeders in a granary or an old barn. It hangs from a chain or rope and the height adjusts as the flock grows. Set the lip at about the back height of the birds and you'll waste noticeably less feed than with a feeder sitting on the floor. Hanging also stops them roosting on the rim and fouling what's inside.
