This is the drinker that grows with the birds. The legs set at three different heights, so you start low for day-old chicks and raise it as they feather out, keeping the drinking lip at about back height — the setting that keeps litter out of the water and water out of the litter. The handle across the top lets you carry it full or hang it from a rafter or a wire, and hanging is worth doing once the birds are big enough to scratch. The legs fold in flat for storage, and the plastic is UV rated, so a summer in a bright coop or an outdoor run doesn't chalk it out. A gallon covers a small flock through a day in mild weather. In a prairie winter nothing plastic stays liquid overnight in an unheated coop, so plan on a morning-and-evening swap or a heated base — and check the base is rated for plastic drinkers before you set one on it. Dump and rinse daily either way.
