Details
A colander tub is a bucket with the bottom perforated so water runs straight out. That sounds simple, and it solves a surprising number of problems around a farm. Rinsing garden produce, draining soaked feed, washing root vegetables, carrying eggs in from the coop, or hauling anything wet from one place to another without taking the water along with it. Two handles is the right number for a tub this shape. Full of wet produce or soaked cubes it gets heavy, and a grip on each side lets you lift and tip it without fighting it. The flexible walls mean it squashes into an odd space in a truck box and comes back to shape, and it takes being dropped a good deal better than a rigid basket does. Red makes it easy to find in a garden, in a barn or in the back of a truck, and it is a sensible colour for a tub that spends time outside. Rinse it out and hang it up. There is nothing on it to rust and nothing to break.
