Five gallons, flat on one side, and bright enough to find. That last part is not a small feature in this country. A bucket knocked into the corner of a corral in November is gone until April if it happens to be black. The flat back does the same job here that it does on a smaller bucket, just with more weight behind it. Twenty quarts of water is a serious load, and a flat side keeps it tight to the wall or panel instead of swinging out and working the hanger loose. Hang it on something that will actually hold it. Away from the wall it is a good general pail. Wide across the top, stable on the ground, easy to clean and easy to pour out of. It takes soaking feeds, hauls water to a pen, carries grain and does the hundred other jobs a five-gallon pail gets asked to do. Turn it over when it is empty so it does not collect snow.
