Five gallons hung flat against a wall, in a colour built to be found. Bright buckets matter more than people expect once the snow flies, because a pail knocked off a panel and drifted over is a pail you buy again in the spring. The shape is the point of a flat back. One flat side means the bucket sits against a wall, a corral panel or a fence rail without swinging on the hanger. At five gallons that is not a small consideration. A full one is heavy enough that a swinging bucket will eventually take its hanger with it. Beyond hanging, this is the pail that does everything else on a place. Fifteen inches across the top makes it easy to fill, easy to empty and easy to clean, and it stands flat on uneven ground rather than tipping the way a tall narrow pail does. Store it upside down when it is not in use and it stays clear of rain, snow and ice.
