Details
Seven quarts is the pan most people end up using for everything. It is big enough for a full grain feed for one horse and small enough that a light ration is not spread thin across the bottom. If you were only going to own one size, this is usually the one. There is nothing to it, which is the point. One moulded piece, no fasteners, no seams and no rim to catch on anything. It stacks, it rinses, it goes in the back of the truck and it survives being run over more often than it should. Black is the pan you buy for inside the barn. It does not show molasses staining or the grey film a light pan picks up, and it looks the same in year three as it did in year one. If your feeding is done outdoors through winter, keep at least one bright pan in the mix so you can find where the rest went after a blow.
