Details
Tomcat Wooden Mouse Traps are classic wood-base spring traps for mice, sold in Canada by Scotts Canada under the Tomcat brand. This listing is the 2-pack; Tomcat sells them in packs of 2 and 4. They are mechanical traps, not a pesticide, so they carry no PCP registration number. Setting them, from Tomcat's directions: "Bait trigger of trap with Tomcat® Mouse & Rat Attractant Gel or peanut butter." "Set trap by pulling U-shaped bar to opposite end and insert tip of pin into underside of trigger." Then place the trap along walls or in corners where mice travel, check it regularly and dispose of any captured mice promptly. Where to set them, per Tomcat: "Place trap where rodents travel, usually between a 10 - 30 ft. area between their nest and food source." Tomcat names residential homes, garages and sheds among the places they suit. Cautions, from Tomcat: "Keep wooden mouse traps out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidental injury." "Handle traps carefully when setting them to avoid getting your fingers caught in the spring mechanism." Tomcat also says to always wear gloves when disposing of dead rodents and to wash your hands afterward. For mice in a stored RV, camper or trailer, see our guide How to Keep Mice Out of an RV, Camper or Trailer Over Winter: What the Labels Allow, which also quotes Alberta's public-health advice on cleaning up droppings safely. For how many traps to set, where to put them and how often to check them, see our guide Mouse and Rat Traps in Canada: Snap, Wood, Glue or Live-Catch? For barns and shops, see Fall Mouse Control for Barns, Shops and Outbuildings in Alberta. Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists the Tomcat Mouse Wood Traps 2-pack in Millet, Alberta (between Leduc and Wetaskiwin, south of Edmonton), with Canada-wide shipping and free in-store pickup.
