A prod that has lost its snap is a battery problem before it is anything else. Before you decide a unit is failing, put fresh cells in it. It solves the complaint most of the time. Six size C alkaline cells to the pack, which is a full set for most Springer prod models plus the reassurance of knowing where they are. Keep a spare pack in the shop rather than in the truck. Cold does batteries no favours, and a pack that has spent February in a glovebox is not the fresh set you thought you had. Batteries also reliably go flat on the morning you are sorting, which is the argument for having two packs rather than one. These are alkaline, not rechargeable. If your prod is a rechargeable model these are the wrong item and you want the USB charger instead.
