Springer Magrath Fluid Feeder Nipple Attachment
Nipple that attaches to the end of any of these fluid feeder tubes, for calves that will suck but are not up to a full feed.
Details
Not every calf that needs help needs a tube. Some will suck if the milk is put in front of them and they do not have to work for it, and this is the fitting that turns the feeder you already own into a nurser for exactly that calf. It is item 101NA, and it attaches to the end of the tube on any Springer Magrath fluid feeder, which is sold separately. Take the probe off, put the nipple on, and the same bag and tube now hand feed a calf that is willing to nurse. The nipple allows liquid through while keeping air out, and the maker notes that the resulting flow encourages the calf to form saliva, which is part of proper digestion. Wash and dry it after every feed the same way you would the rest of the feeder, and check the nipple periodically for splits or a hole that has worn open, because a torn nipple lets milk down faster than the calf can handle.
