The shaft is the part that takes the abuse. It gets leaned on, dropped, caught in a gate, and worked in wet and cold, and eventually it is done while the handle and the electronics are still perfectly serviceable. Replacing the shaft costs a fraction of a new prod. This is the genuine Springer Magrath part, so it fits without modification and without anyone improvising with hose clamps. That matters on a tool carrying a charge. Springer has built several prod models over the years and the shafts are not universal between them. Check what you have before ordering, and if you are not certain, send us the model number or a photo and we will confirm the right shaft before anything ships. Worth keeping in mind at the point where you are about to write off a prod. Between shafts, batteries and chargers, most of what fails on these is a replaceable part rather than the whole unit.
