Springer Magrath stock shock handle includes 4 alkaline c batteries
The yellow power pack handle for the Stock Shock livestock prod, supplied with four alkaline C cells and ready to take a shaft.
Details
This is the handle end of the yellow Stock Shock, the part that holds the batteries and the switch. Shafts are sold separately, which is how most people buy it, since a shaft is easier to break than a handle. The case is structural grade plastic. Inside, the battery contacts are precious metal to resist corrosion and a heavy coil spring keeps the connection under load. Four alkaline C batteries are included, so it is ready to go out of the box. The switch has a grooved finger guide so it can be found by feel with gloves on, and a rubber insulator on the switch prevents feedback to the hand. Replacement shafts are made in several lengths, so pick one to suit the alleys and chutes you work in. Take the batteries out if the handle is going to sit unused for a long stretch, since a leaking cell is the usual way these are lost. Keep the contacts clean and the case out of standing water. A prod is a handling aid, and how and when it is used is governed by your own operation's handling practices and applicable codes of practice.
