The Thermo-Chicken Perch is a heated roost bar: instead of sitting at coop temperature, the bar the birds grip is kept warm by dual internal thermostats. This is the shorter of the two lengths at 66 cm (26 in) and 40 watts, which suits a small backyard flock or a second bar added to an existing coop. The perch is shaped as an oval rather than a round dowel, which K&H says suits a hen's foot pads better than a round perch. Two internal thermostats regulate it day and night, and the cord runs 1.7 m (5.5 ft). It is MET listed and carries a one-year limited warranty. Mount it at the height your birds already prefer to roost, well clear of feed and water so nothing splashes onto it, and give it enough room that a bird can get on and off without knocking into a wall. Wipe it down with a damp cloth and mild detergent as part of your regular coop cleaning rather than soaking it. Like the rest of the heated coop range, there is no switch, and it runs from the moment it is plugged in. Feed it from a grounded, outdoor-rated circuit with GFCI protection and route the cord along a rafter or wall where birds and rodents cannot get at it. Check the lead each autumn before the season.
