CORRAL t-shaped ground rod 1m
A 1 m galvanized T-section earth rod with a stainless M8 screw terminal, giving an energiser a proper connection to ground.
Details
Poor earthing is behind most of the fence complaints that get blamed on the energiser. The unit fires, the fence reads high with a tester, and yet nothing respects it, because the circuit cannot get back through dry ground to close. This rod is galvanized T-section steel a metre long, which drives more easily than round bar in stony ground and presents more surface area to the soil for its length. The connection is a stainless-steel M8 screw, so the earth cable clamps to a terminal that will still come apart in five years rather than a rusted bolt you end up cutting off. Use more than one. Set the rods well apart, in the dampest ground you can reach, and link them with insulated underground cable rather than bare wire lying on the surface. Keep the whole earth bank away from a building ground or a buried utility. Test it properly. Short the fence out deliberately, then read the voltage between the earth bank and a probe pushed into the ground some distance away. A high reading there means you need more rods, not a bigger energiser.
