Fences grow. A cross fence here, a lane there, and the unit that held 6 kV two seasons ago now reads low by the far corner every time the grass comes up. The 300 exists for that middle ground, where a small energiser has run out of headroom but a high-output unit is more than the job needs. It stores 3.0 joules, peaks at 9,600 volts open circuit and holds 6,300 volts into a 500 ohm load. The theoretical rating is 95 km of line. Power comes from 110 volt mains or a 12 volt battery, with an optional 25 watt solar module charging the battery directly for lines with no service. The electronics are microprocessor controlled with an energy-saving mode and deep discharge protection on battery, plus a fence monitoring LED, a low battery indicator and a screw-fuse supply plug. The extra joule buys headroom against vegetation, not distance in a straight line. If voltage is already dropping on the fence you have, walk the line for cracked insulators and poor joins before you assume the energiser is the limit.
