A netting roll is only worth what its worst post is. Break one post and the net sags at that point, the mesh drags into the grass, and the fence starts losing voltage exactly where you cannot see it. Buying one replacement post is a lot better than retiring a good roll. The double prong is the reason these hold. Two spikes stop the post rotating when the net is pulled sideways at a corner or when a long side catches the wind, which single spike posts will do in dry, light ground. On sandy or gravelly soil that difference shows up on the first windy day. Posts break at the spike, usually in cold weather, usually when somebody pulls the net without stepping the spike free first. Keep a couple of spares with the roll. When you set the net, tread each post in properly rather than pushing it over, support every corner, and lift the spikes clear before you pull. Most broken posts are dragged sideways out of frozen ground rather than worn out.
