Most fences end up mixed. Rope goes on the runs where you want strength and a low profile, tape goes where visibility matters, and sooner or later the two have to meet. At a gateway, at a corner where the fence changes character, or where a new section joins an old one. That junction is where fences go dead. Tying rope to tape is awkward, the knot crushes the tape conductors, and the two materials barely touch electrically. This connector is made for that specific joint. It holds each material in the way that suits it and carries the pulse across the change. Fit it where the run is not under heavy tension if you can, and support the span either side so the connector is not taking the full pull of a long line. Keep it clear of steel posts and wet ground. Once it is in, put a tester on the far side of the joint rather than assuming. The whole reason to use a proper connector is so you can trust what happens past it.
