CORRAL Rope-to-rope connector

Details
Rope gets joined more often than anyone plans for. A roll runs out fifty metres short of the corner, a tree comes down across the line, or a horse takes a section out and you are splicing in a new length in the dark. This connector is the part that makes that join behave like the rest of the fence. The problem with a knot is not that it slips. It is that it does not conduct. The fine conductors in a fence rope have to be pressed together across real contact area to carry a pulse, and a knot presses them at random. Everything past the knot reads lower, and the more knots on the line the worse it gets. Fit it with clean, square cut ends, seat the rope fully, and check the fence past the join with a tester. On a long run in country where the fence sees a sixty degree temperature spread over the year, keep some slack either side so the connector is not the tightest point on the line.
