The duo chargers will run off a deep cycle battery in the field or off house power in the yard, and this is the 12 volt side of that arrangement. It is the lead that gets damaged most often, because it lives outdoors in a battery box, gets stepped on, gets pulled when somebody moves the battery, and spends its life in dust and moisture. A damaged or corroded battery lead behaves exactly like a failing energizer. The fence reads low, the unit cuts out on its deep discharge protection, and people start pricing new chargers. Checking the lead first is five minutes well spent. Confirm which supply your model takes before ordering, since the duo range is not all the same. When you fit it, run the cable so it is not lying in water or across a path, keep the clamps clean and bright, and give the battery box a look while you are in there. On a remote fence line the whole system is only as reliable as its worst connection.
