Details
Polywire is the workhorse for temporary fence, and the number that matters is resistance. This one runs 0.30 ohms per metre through six 0.30 mm TriCOND conductors, a long way ahead of the plain stainless polywire that fades out after a few hundred metres. It is rated for fences up to 6,000 m, close to four miles, with the right energizer behind it. Two hundred metres, about 656 ft, is a single reel and a single paddock. That suits strip grazing, a temporary lane, or a spare roll left in the truck for the day something goes down. Breaking load is 100 kg, roughly 220 lb, which is enough for a poly line and not something to hang a gate on. Red and white gives contrast in both directions. The red shows against snow, the white against grass and stubble. Wind it back on a reel rather than coiling it by hand, and use connectors at joins so you are not fighting a knot for voltage every time you repair a break.
