A pigtail post is the fastest temporary post there is. You step it in with a boot, hook the wire into the curl at the top and move on. No insulator to thread, no clip to fumble with gloves on. At 105 cm, about 3 ft 5 in, it stands a single hot wire at a sensible height for cattle and horses. Ten to a pack is a working number. Strip grazing, a temporary lane between paddocks, a quick fix where a cow has walked through the permanent line, those jobs all want a handful of posts you can pull and reset in minutes. The curl carries the wire clear of the post, so the line stays hot without hunting for a spare insulator. They pull as easily as they go in, which matters on land that freezes hard by November. Set them in fall ground, pull them before the frost locks in, and stack them on the trailer until spring.
