This is the pack you buy when you are fencing rather than repairing. Twenty-five in-line tensioners covers a substantial rebuild, several long runs with a tensioner in each stretch plus spares, and it means you are not stopping mid-project for a trip to town after one more piece. The tensioner installs in the wire itself, out in the run rather than at the end assembly, so you can adjust a line from anywhere along it. That is the practical advantage over tensioning only at the corners. You take up slack where the slack actually is, and you do it without touching the corner brace. Plan on one per straight stretch as a minimum, and more on very long runs or any line crossing ground that heaves. Frost movement is not uniform. A run that crosses a low wet spot lifts differently than the same run up on high ground, and having an adjustment point on each side of that transition saves a lot of grief. Fit them all when the fence goes up. Retrofitting a tensioner into a strained line is a much worse afternoon than installing one into a slack one.
