The weakest point of most electric gates is where the handle meets the fence line. People tie a knot in the tape, or twist the rope through the handle eye, and that joint then carries all the pull every time the gate is opened plus all the current the gate is supposed to conduct. It works loose, it wears, and eventually the gate stops being live before it stops being attached. These clips are the fix. They grip the conductor properly and give the handle a solid mechanical connection and a solid electrical one at the same time. Eight to a pack, because a place with a handful of gates uses them faster than you would think, and one loose gate is a hole in the fence. Worth doing every gate on the place at once rather than one at a time as they fail. It is a half-hour job across a farmyard and it takes a whole category of intermittent fence fault off the table, the kind where the fence reads fine on Monday, reads low on Thursday, and nobody can find why until somebody happens to jiggle a gate handle while the tester is on.
