CORRAL gate handle (Blue)
A blue insulated gate handle, a step up from the economy version, for opening an electric fence gap without taking the shock.
Details
Blue is the colour that says gate. On a fence line, a blue handle is visible from a distance and unmistakable against snow, grass or a dark corral rail, which matters when you are directing somebody else to a gap or finding it yourself at five in the morning. The job of a gate handle is simple and important. It gives you an insulated grip so you can break the fence circuit and open the gap without earthing the pulse through your arm. It hooks onto a gate anchor insulator on the closed side, with the fence line running to the handle on the other. Where handles differ is in how long the insulation lasts. Sun over a long summer and constant handling at minus thirty in a mitt are hard on plastic, and once a handle body cracks it has stopped being insulation. Check them every spring and replace anything showing a split rather than getting away with it for one more season. Anchor the gate end on a solid post too. A handle pulling on a leaning t-post ends up on the ground, and a gate line on the ground is a dead gate.
