For a normal pasture gap this is the easiest gate on the market to live with. Unhook it and the 40 mm tape winds itself back up onto a steel spring. Hook it up and it pulls tight across the opening. No slack line on the ground, nothing to run over with the quad, nothing to trip on in the dark. The 7.5 m span, about 24 feet 7 inches, takes a tractor and most implements through, which is what a working gate between paddocks actually needs. The 40 mm tape is the high-visibility option. Over an opening that wide, an inch and a half of tape is something stock and drivers both pick up from a distance, and that visibility is doing as much work as the electricity is. Two wood screws are included and it mounts directly to a wooden stake, so there is no bracket to fabricate. Set it on a solid post. The spring is under load the whole time the gate is closed, and a post that was only ever meant to be a line post will pull over eventually. Because the tape stays tensioned rather than sagging, current carries across the opening instead of grounding out in wet grass.
