CORRAL Flexigate with 20mm tape 19m
A self-retracting tape gate that expands to 19 m, over 60 feet, for the wide openings a standard gate handle cannot begin to span.
Details
Nineteen metres is the reason to look at this one. That is a shade over 62 feet, which covers a field entrance, a corral alley or a driveway crossing, the kind of opening where a conventional gate line would be a hopeless tangle of slack rope every time you opened it. It uses 20 mm tape, about three quarters of an inch. Narrower than the 40 mm tape gates, and that is deliberate. Over a 62-foot span a wide tape is a sail. Twenty millimetres still gives a visible line across the opening while carrying far less wind load, which is what keeps the unit from being torn off the post the first time it blows hard. The mechanism is the same steel spring as the rest of the Flexigate range, so the tape retracts on its own when you unhook it and stays up off the ground. The housing screws straight to a wooden post. For a span this wide, put it on the best post you have, a properly set corner or a braced end assembly rather than a line post, because the spring load and the wind load both land on that one point.
