CORRAL energizer to tape connector
The connector that takes an energizer lead-out cable onto poly tape, spreading contact across the full width of the tape.

Tape carries its current in fine conductors laid across the width of the band, which is exactly why you cannot connect to it by wrapping a wire around it. Wrapping picks up maybe two or three of those conductors and crushes them, and the rest of the tape may as well not be there. This connector is made to clamp across the full width of the tape so every conductor is in the circuit, and to take the cable from the fence terminal on the energizer at the other end. It is the first joint in the system and the one everything else depends on. If your tape fence has ever read strong at the energizer and weak two hundred yards out, the lead-out connection is the first place to look, ahead of the ground system and well ahead of the energizer itself. Make it with the proper connector, keep it up out of standing water and snow, and give it a wire brush and a retighten each spring. Tape moves a lot with temperature, and a joint that was snug in July is not necessarily snug after a Prairie winter.
