This is the short jumper that ties an energizer into the rest of the system, either out to the fence line or down to the ground rods. One metre, about 39 inches, with an eyelet terminal on the end so it lands on a terminal post or a ground clamp and stays put. People underestimate how much of a fence problem lives in these connections. High-voltage pulse leaks anywhere the insulation is thin or the metal is corroded, and a lead that has been sitting in wet grass all summer will bleed voltage into the ground where you cannot see it happening. Proper high-voltage fence cable is insulated for the job. Household or automotive wire is not, and it will let go at the first hard frost. The eyelet is the part that makes it worth buying rather than making. A crimped eyelet under a nut is a mechanical connection that stays tight through freeze-thaw cycles, whereas a wire wrapped around a post and twisted works loose. Check both ends when you commission the fence in spring. Most of the resistance in a poorly performing system is at the joints, not in the run.
