Roundup Ready-To-Use with Wand Applicator is a domestic-class, non-selective herbicide from Bayer CropScience Inc., registered in Canada under the Pest Control Products Act as PCP Registration No. 31154. The registered label gives the guarantee as glyphosate 7 g/L (present as isopropylamine salt) and covers container sizes from 1 L to 6 L; this listing is the 4 L jug with the wand applicator. It is sold ready to use, so there is nothing to mix: you spray it straight from the wand. What the label covers: it describes the product as "a non-selective grass and weed killer" that "controls most annual and perennial grasses, including lawn grasses, broadleaf weeds and brush (i.e. virtually anything that is green and growing)." Uses on the label: "Lawn edging/trimming, patio weed control, lawn/garden renovation, hard to mow areas." The label's use table also lists undesirable vegetation around buildings, vacant lots, storage and recreational areas and driveways, use around trees, shrubs and ornamentals ("Apply around base in a neat fashion. Avoid spray or drift contact with foliage, stems or green bark of desirable plants."), lawn and garden renovation, and brush control. Weeds named on the label include quackgrass, chickweed, ragweed, knotweed, poison ivy, Canada thistle, milkweed and bindweed, and brush such as poplar, alder, maple and raspberry. Because it is non-selective, the label warns: "AVOID SPRAY CONTACT ON DESIRABLE PLANTS AS ANY PLANT MAY BE KILLED BY CONTACT." It "has no soil activity", and "Plants must be present to be controlled. Repeat applications will be required as new seedlings and vegetation emerge." How to apply, from the label: "Apply to vigorously growing plants. Apply to annual weeds anytime after emergence. For perennial weeds apply after seed heads, flowers or berries appear." "Ensure uniform and complete spray coverage but not to the point of run-off." To use the wand: "Twist nozzle at end of applicator wand to desired spray pattern." "Point applicator wand away from body. Ensure trigger lock is disengaged before spraying. Hold trigger for continuous spray." "Release trigger to stop spray." "Glyphosate is not to be applied using hand-wicking or hand-daubing methods." For lawn or garden renovation: "For best results on lawns, skip one mowing prior to treatment. Allow at least 3 days after treatment before disturbing the soil and/or replanting." For brush: "Apply after leaves are fully expanded. Treat trees and brush up to 1.5 m in height only; for taller plants cut down and spray regrowth." Weather: "Do not spray in windy conditions." "Rain or watering two hours after application will not wash away effectiveness. However, heavy rainfall immediately after application may wash the chemical off the foliage and repeat treatment may be required. Do not apply if rainfall is forecast for the time of application." Precautions, as printed: "CAUTION: EYE IRRITANT. HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. Avoid contact with eyes or prolonged contact with skin." "Do not allow others such as children and pets on treatment area during application or to re-enter treated areas until spray has dried." "Wash immediately after using this product." "Do not contaminate water, foodstuffs, seed or feed by storage or disposal." The label's first-aid section covers skin, eye and swallowing exposure; take the container, label or product name and the PCP number with you when seeking medical attention. For the sprayer: "Do not submerge in water. When storing sprayer for long periods, remove batteries." Storage: "Store this product in its original container in a secure area away from children and pets." "Protect container from freezing." Disposal: "Wrap empty container and discard in household garbage." Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists Roundup Ready-To-Use with Wand Applicator 4 L in store in Millet, Alberta, between Leduc and Wetaskiwin south of Edmonton, and online. For larger areas, Roundup Concentrate (glyphosate 143 g/L, PCP 22627) and Roundup Super Concentrate (glyphosate 356 g/L, PCP 22759) are mixed with water, while the Roundup Advanced ready-to-use sprays contain acetic acid and no glyphosate; our guide "Which Roundup Has Glyphosate?" compares the range. Pesticides are regulated by Health Canada; read and follow the label before every use.
