Details

Roundup Ready-To-Use Grass and Weed Control with FastAct Foam 2 L is a ready-to-use glyphosate spray: no mixing, no tank sprayer. It is registered with Health Canada by Bayer CropScience Inc. under PCP Reg. No. 24299 as a DOMESTIC product, and the label guarantee is glyphosate 7 g/L (present as isopropylamine salt). The label covers net contents from 1 L to 6 L; this listing is the 2 L bottle, which the label describes "With QUICK CONNECT® sprayer". What the label covers: Roundup is described as "a non-selective vegetation control herbicide" that "controls most annual and perennial grasses, including lawn grasses, broadleaf weeds and brush". That includes your lawn, so keep it off grass and plants you want to keep: "AVOID SPRAY CONTACT ON DESIRABLE PLANTS AS ANY PLANT MAY BE KILLED BY CONTACT." Uses listed on the label: "Lawn edging/trimming, patio weed control, lawn/garden renovation, hard to mow areas." Weeds named on the label include "quackgrass, chickweed, ragweed, knotweed, poison ivy, Canada thistle, milkweed, bindweed", and for brush "Poplar, Alder, Maple and Raspberry". Using the sprayer, per the label: "Pull trigger sprayer from bottle." "Pull hose connector and coil from trigger sprayer handle." Adjust the nozzle to STREAM "for cracks and crevices" or FOAM, "which marks weeds", then "Aim sprayer nozzle at centre of weed and spray to wet." After use: "No need to disconnect trigger sprayer. Close nozzle on trigger sprayer. Snap trigger sprayer back into place on bottle." Timing, from the label: "Apply to vigorously growing plants. Apply to annual weeds anytime after emergence. For perennial weeds apply after seed heads, flowers or berries appear." "Ensure uniform and complete spray coverage but not to the point of run-off." Around trees and shrubs: "Avoid spray or drift contact with foliage, stems or green bark of desirable plants." Brush: "Treat trees and brush up to 1.5 m in height only; for taller plants cut down and spray regrowth." The label also says: "Plants must be present to be controlled." and "Repeat applications will be required as new seedlings and vegetation emerge." "Glyphosate is not to be applied using hand-wicking or hand-daubing methods." Renovating a lawn or garden bed: "For best results on lawns, skip one mowing prior to treatment. Allow at least 3 days after treatment before disturbing the soil and/or replanting." The label also advises: "avoid tillage or disturbing the treated area for 7-10 days (or as otherwise specified on the label)." Rain and wind: "Rain or watering two hours after application will not wash away effectiveness. However, heavy rainfall immediately after application may wash the chemical off the foliage and repeat treatment may be required." "Do not apply if rainfall is forecast for the time of application." "Do not spray in windy conditions." Precautions: the label reads "CAUTION: EYE IRRITANT. HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED." and "Avoid contact with eyes or prolonged contact with skin." Keep children and pets off the treated area during application and until the spray has dried, as the label directs. First aid and disposal directions are printed on the label. Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists Roundup Ready-To-Use Grass and Weed Control with FastAct Foam 2 L in store in Millet, Alberta, between Leduc and Wetaskiwin south of Edmonton, and online. For larger areas, Roundup Concentrate (PCP Reg. No. 22627) and Roundup Super Concentrate (PCP Reg. No. 22759) are glyphosate concentrates you mix with water; the Roundup Advanced ready-to-use sprays carry acetic acid instead of glyphosate. Our guide "Which Roundup Has Glyphosate" compares the whole range. Pesticides are regulated by Health Canada; read and follow the label before every use.
