Details
Roundup Advanced Concentrate is a herbicidal soap concentrate that you mix with water before spraying. It is registered with Health Canada by Bayer CropScience Inc. under PCP Reg. No. 33586 as a DOMESTIC product, and the label's active ingredient is "ammonium soap of fatty acids 22.10%". It contains no glyphosate: it is a different chemistry from Roundup Concentrate and Roundup Super Concentrate, and from the Roundup Advanced ready-to-use sprays, which are registered with acetic acid. The label covers containers from "100 mL to 1L"; this listing is the 1 L bottle. What the label covers: "For control of grass and weeds within vegetable and flower gardens, landscaped areas, around and on buildings, sidewalks, fences, bark mulch, driveways, patios and gravel." It adds: "Can be used in cultivated areas prior to planting grass, flowers and vegetables." It is non-selective, so keep it off plants you want to keep: "Avoid spraying desirable plants." How to mix and apply, from the label: "Mix 200 mL of Roundup Advanced® Concentrate with 1 L water. Apply the mixed solution at 100-200 ml/m2. For annual weeds, use at the lower rate. For perennial and more established weeds, use at higher rate. Any standard hand-held or backpack sprayer can be used. Spray weed thoroughly, using a coarse nozzle setting to reduce drift." For spot treatment: "apply the mixed solution to the center of plant to the point of runoff." Timing: "The best results are obtained with young, actively growing weeds, less than 12cm high. Roundup Advanced® Concentrate works best during warm and dry conditions." Rain: "If rain falls within 3 hours of treatment, an additional spray may be required." Repeat: "Repeat treatment every 2 to 3 weeks to control new weeds growing from seed and re-growth from bi-annual and perennial weeds." "Thoroughly clean equipment after use." Precautions, as printed: "KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Causes eye irritation. DO NOT get in eyes. Use only in well ventilated areas." "DO NOT apply when people or pets are present. DO NOT allow people or pets to enter treated areas until sprays have dried. For good hygiene practice, wear gloves when handling this product. Wear goggles or faceshield (protective eyewear) during mixing/handling of the concentrate. Protect from freezing. Avoid direct application to ponds, streams and lakes." The front panel reads "WARNING EYE IRRITANT", and the environmental precautions begin "TOXIC to non-target terrestrial plants and aquatic organisms." The label's first-aid section covers eyes, skin, inhalation and swallowing and says to "Take container, label or product name and Pest Control Product Registration Number with you when seeking medical attention." Storage: "Store this product away from food and feed." Disposal: "DO NOT reuse the empty container. Recycle the empty container if available, or dispose in household garbage." Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists Roundup Advanced Concentrate 1 L in store in Millet, Alberta, between Leduc and Wetaskiwin south of Edmonton, and online. For glyphosate, see Roundup Concentrate (PCP Reg. No. 22627, 143 g/L) and Roundup Super Concentrate (PCP Reg. No. 22759, 356 g/L); the ready-to-use Roundup Advanced sprays (1 L and Pump N Go) carry acetic acid, 62.5 g/L. Our guide "Which Roundup Has Glyphosate?" compares the whole range. Pesticides are regulated by Health Canada; read and follow the label before every use.
