Disposable bag traps for yellowjackets, sold here as a case of twelve. Each trap is a collapsible bag with an attractant cartridge inside: you hang it, pour water in to the fill line, and the wasps go in through the top and drown. When it is full you take the whole bag down and throw it out — no emptying a jar of live wasps, which is the part everybody hates about reusable traps. The attractant targets yellowjackets specifically, so it does not pull in honeybees the way a sweet bait would. There is no insecticide in it; the water does the work. That makes it a reasonable choice around a yard, a shop door, a corral or a campsite where you would rather not spray. Placement matters more than most people expect. Hang traps 20 to 30 feet away from the door, patio or feed area you are protecting, not on top of it — the point is to draw wasps to the trap and away from you. Traps set early in the season catch queens and pay off far more than traps hung in August when the colony is already large. Full sun speeds the attractant up but also speeds up how fast it plays out. A case of twelve is a season's worth for an acreage, or one round for a yard with several buildings. Store the unopened traps somewhere cool and dry; the attractant starts working the moment the seal is broken.
