Five eighths of an inch is about as short as a working cattle needle gets, and it is a calf and light-cattle size. The 16 gauge bore means it still moves fluid at a pace that keeps a crew going, which is what separates it from dropping to a finer gauge just to get the same shallow depth. Aluminum hub, disposable, 100 to the box. Short shaft, so it bends less and breaks less than anything longer, and it is easy to keep track of on the end of an injector when you are working fast. Branding and processing days are where these disappear, and they are usually being used by whoever is on the far side of the table rather than the person who bought them. Put the box where the crew can see it, make it obvious that changing a needle is expected rather than a nuisance, and have a real sharps container out. Blunt needles on young stock make a mess of what should be a clean job. Fit the hub snug, check it regularly, and leave anything to do with what is being given to your veterinarian or the product label.
